Paraphrase

THE COMPLETE WOMAN TO THE COMPLETE MAN

I can’t stop focusing on how desirable you are, my Love; Also you are a delight to me.

Besides that, our marriage relationship is fruitful.

Footnotes

1

“Bed” can refer to the act of sex and producing children, or to a place of rest, or to deep meditation and thought (while one cannot sleep at night). Here it is obviously related to sexual intimacy.

2: “Green”

For the people of that day green meant fertile. This appears to present a problem for my idea that they only had two daughters, and no sons. On the one side we have the silence of the written record, and the fact that Solomon put someone else’s son on the throne, while here we have this statement that their bed is fertile. I reconcile those by saying that the problem was not getting pregnant, the problem was carrying and delivering the babies without complications. I see this as her way of reminding Solomon that they had produced two beautiful daughters and to focus on them, not on the risks of another pregnancy.
