Then the second angel delivered his foretaste of what is to come, a collection of great difficulties which are impossible to avoid, which bring immediate judgment, were delivered with violent force to the place of the unknown, which resulted in a limited portion of

the place of the unknown being revealed as outright deadly,

Footnotes

[1] “Mountains” stood for strength, especially in the form of defensive positions for battle, for difficulties, i.e. hard to climb, and for something that is impossible to move out of the way. The usage in this verse seems to fit with two of those meanings—difficulties and something impossible to move. This set of difficulties seems impossible to deliver (move from its place), yet if delivered it will be impossible to avoid (move out of the way). The angel does exactly what should be impossible to do, he delivers with violent force that which is impossible to even budge. He placed it in a place that is unknown to man. This proves that God has control even over the places that man has relegated to demons, to monsters and other dangerous and malevolent creatures.
