Then I saw the full contingency of God’s agents that are constantly ready and waiting to fulfill the commands of THE CREATOR AND OWNER OF ALL THINGS, and they were given everything they needed to provide a foretaste of what was to come.

In the presence of such a great king as God the only appropriate attitudes are humble submission and adoration (expressed through kneeling) or the readiness to immediately obey any order (expressed through standing).

Trumpets had two primary uses in ancient times, they could be commands for various types of action, or they could be warnings. In this instance I believe it serves as a warning.
