Revelation22:1

Translation

Then he showed me a river

of water of life,

clear as crystal, flowing out of

the throne of GOD

and of

THE LAMB,

Paraphrase

Then he showed me the fresh and desirable abundance of

life-giving life, pure as pure can be, based on

the authority of THE CREATOR AND OWNER OF ALL THINGS and of THE ONLY EFFICACIOUS SACRIFICE.

Here we have yet another example of the layering of images where more than one word-picture is used that means the same thing. River usually meant abundance, but it had some hints of “life,” and water more clearly meant “life” and then the word “life” itself is used. Here the concept of life is communicated three times.
