Translation
Paraphrase
Entrance into the ranks of the people of God is always open to all as long as there is opportunity, and such opportunity is not denied.
Footnotes
1
One of the ancient meanings of “day” was “opportunity” as in, “the time to get things done.” In ancient times, they had no streetlights, or pole lights, so they could not work at night. In this context “night” does not mean “danger” but the opposite of “day,” which is the lack of opportunity to get something done. In this verse the opportunity refers to entering into the ranks of the people of God.
