Fine linen was a symbol for several things; it represented purity, good health, high quality things, i.e. refinement. I have chosen to communicate it with the word “wholesomeness” because it seems to encompass both the spiritual and physical aspects, which actually have some overlap.

This usage of linen is explained in order to drive home the point that this usage was about spiritual purity and good reputation, not about the physical things like health and refinement.
