Paraphrase

The deeds of all people on earth, were made visible with the anticipation of judgment;

this revealing of deeds resulted in death for

an unfathomable number of people, in fact it was the full number

of all those deserving death.

Footnotes

1

Outside the city was where punishment was exacted; that is why Jesus suffered “outside the gate.”

2: "1600"

This was the number 4 squared and multiplied by 100, or it was the number 40 squared. Either way it meant “All” in no uncertain terms. The other squared number in Revelation is 144,000, which also meant “all.” The number 40 was often tied to personal suffering or hardship (see Num 14:33, Dt 25:3, Lk 4:2 and Acts 1:3).

3

“Stadia” was the traditional length of a foot race which is equal to 606 ft or 186 meters, making it closest to our modern race of 200 meters. 606 feet times 1600 equals 969,000 feet or 183 miles.  Here it is used to indicate a full or complete measurement, not half of a race, or random portion of a race, but the full race, from start to finish. Here we have three word pictures for “all” used in quick succession: blood as deep as the bridles of horses, the number 1600, and the full length of a foot race. This means that absolutely all the wicked will be punished, none will escape.
