Paraphrase
She keeps a careful eye out for any behavioral signs of spiritual decay among those under her care (children and servants alike) and because she is never idle, she never has to deal with the shortages that idleness produces.
Footnotes
1: "watches over the ways"
The noun used here means “a direction to go, a way, a group that is traveling, a march, a procession, the act of going, travelling or walking.” It has ethical and spiritual implications which point to one’s actions. Here I take it to be both financial and spiritual in nature, the next clause about idleness pointing to the material/financial aspect of things and the word “ways” pointing toward the spiritual side of things. She watches over and strives to ensure that proper preparations are made by way of material goods, and also that quarrels do not break out among her female servants and that her children are being raised to know truth and live by it.
