Ecclesiastes8:2

Translation

I say, Keep the command of the king for the sake of your oath

Paraphrase

I say, Obey the commands of those in authority over you because you have sworn [to obey] THE CREATOR AND RULER OF ALL THINGS.

One’s oath or commitment to obeying God includes submission to those in authority. God knows that they will not always act wisely but, unless they are asking us to do something which is obviously against God’s will, we should respect and obey those in authority over us.
