So I praise joy because a man has nothing better under the sun than to eat and drink and rejoice, for this will join him in his work all the days of his life which God gives him under the sun.
Paraphrase
So I spoke well of joy as life’s focus because man has no better goal while he is here on earth than to meet his family’s basic needs and be joyful in doing so, then this same joy will accompany him in all the work he does throughout all the days of his life which God has chosen to give him here on earth.
