in the morning and in the evening do not let your hand rest, for you do not know which one will prosper, whether this one or the other one, or if the two of them do equally well.

Paraphrase

Do your charitable giving and the money producing activities which allow you to give starting early and continuing with intense effort until the end of the day without letting up, for you do not know which personal efforts or which type of giving will bring the greatest results; it might be one, or the other or both.

Footnotes

1: “sow your seed”

This terminology was often used of charitable giving. It is impossible to say with certainty whether Solomon had in mind just the charitable giving itself or the hard work that made it possible, or both. It is likely that both were in view.
