Translation

Does YHVH (read Adonai) have as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in hearing the voice of YHVH? Look! To obey is better than a sacrifice, and hearing than the fat of rams.

Paraphrase

Does THE ETERNAL AND PERSONAL GOD receive as much pleasure when you offer him sacrifices that all-go-up-in-smoke or sacrifices that request peace and fellowship with God, as when you hear and follow the voice of THE ETERNAL AND PERSONAL GOD? Listen up! In reality, your obedience is better than your sacrifices, and paying attention to God is better than the flashy expressions of how passionate you are for God.
