Lesson 16 of 16Recovering Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, edited by John Piper and Wayne Grudem. The creation of this book was sponsored and endorsed by the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, the organization that created the Danvers Statement in 1987 and published it in 1988. The council was made up of 31 noted Bible scholars. Therefore this book is a compilation of various pieces written by various members of the council. Much of it contains answers to common questions regarding the roles and authority of men and women. So Much More, by Anna Sofia Botkin and Elizabeth Botkin when they were age 19 and 17, respectively. The authors explore the relationship of a daughter and father in light of biblical teaching. These young ladies also do an excellent job of exposing the reality of the feminist movement, its dangers, and negative consequences.
Love & Respect by Emmerson Eggerichs. This is one of the best resources for a marriage because it gets to the bottom layer of all marriage issues – namely that the woman needs love and the man needs respect. Its purpose is not to address the roles of women, but that topic does come up and he does a good job of dealing with it.
A Woman After God’s Own Heart, by Elizabeth George. A number of topics are covered in this book, one of them being a wife’s relationship with her husband in light of the teachings of the Bible.
The Resolution for Men, by Stephen and Alex Kendrick. This book goes with the movie Courageous by the Kendrick brothers
The Resolution for Women, by Priscilla Shirer. This book also accompanies the movie Courageous, by the Kendrick brothers.
